An arctic-alpine microlichen forming inconspicuous thallus and black apothecia with rough surface. Its distribution in the Czech Republic is limited to the exposed rocky outcrops of the Petrovy kameny rock in the Hrubý Jeseník Mts. Therefore it is one of the rare “extremophilic” lichens of open rocky outcrops that are known in the country only from this locality (Anaptychia bryorum, Melanohalea infumata, Phaeophyscia kairamoi, Caloplaca ammiospila). Most of these species occurs in central Europe rarely, at higher elevations in the Alps and Carpathians.
