A species undistinguishable from other members of the L. neglecta group without spot reactions or a TLC analysis. Its preferred substrates are exposed siliceous rocks and mosses covering them. Less often, the lichen may be found on acidic soil and exceptionally even on wooden plants. It is considered a typically mountain species but in the Czech Republic, it may be found in suitable localities also in mountain foothills. The species is more common in central and northern part of Europe.
