An arctic-alpine lichen of exposed rocks and screes. Reports from the Czech Republic come only from the highest elevations of Krkonoše and even there it is a relatively rare species. An unverified and, according to the locality, questionable record in historical literature comes from Šumperk (Paul 1906).
