A lichen forming a grey to grey-brown thallus up to several cm in diameter. The diagnostic substances are miriquidic and stictic acids. Miriquidica invadens typically begins its life cycle on the thallus of Sporastatia polyspora (rarely also on S. testudinea). Its most common habitat is vertical siliceous rock faces in high-mountain environments. The overall distribution remains poorly known, as the species was only described in 2014. So far, it has been reported from several European countries, with most known localities in the Alps (Hafellner et al. 2014). In the Czech Republic, the species has recently been published only from the Kozí hřbety ridge in the Krkonoše Mountains, always as a parasite on S. polyspora on quartzite rocks (Malíček & Steinová 2025).
