Aspicilia aquatica Körb.

One of the amphibious lichens of partially or periodically flooded siliceous stones and rocks in the riverbeds and brooks exposed to sun. It is a species with boreo-montane/boreo-alpine distribution. In Europe, it occurs mainly in highlands or in the northern part of the continent. In the Czech Republic, this species is very rare and recent records come only from the Krkonoše and Orlické hory Mountains. Nevertheless, the Catalogue of Lichens of the Czech Republic (Vězda & Liška 1999) contains a larger amount of historical data, over 100 years old. However, it is necessary to check whether they really relate to this taxon.
