A species of Lecidella with a tiny thallus and numerous black apothecia that are characterised by dark brown excipulum and colourless to brownish hypothecium visible in the cross-section. The lichen occurs on acidic to slightly calcium-enriched silicates, often on their vertical surfaces, from lowlands to mountains. It is a sparse species in Europe. Its current occurrence in the Czech Republic is mainly concentrated on rock outcrops in the forest of southern Bohemia. However, in the past L. anomaloides was reported from various localities in the country.
