A sorediate member of the M. prasina group that has been described recently based also on material collected in the Czech Republic, in the Hrubý Jeseník Mts (holotype) and Šumava Mts (a part of the paratype material). The lichen was recognized and reported even earlier from the Czech Republic, from the Žofínský prales forest reserve as a potentially undescribed taxon close to M. prasina (Malíček & Palice 2013). Micarea flavoleprosa is known only from western and central Europe so far, from heavily decayed wood in moist forests. According to the current knowledge, it prefers old forests and in the Czech Republic it is rather rare. Its identification is difficult and it can easily be confused with other genus members. The use of molecular methods for confirmation is recommended.
