Micarea myriocarpa V. Wirth & Vězda ex Coppins

A tiny pioneer lichen with a specific ecology. It almost exclusively occupies shaded humid and rain-protected niches in early succession stages. Its typical habitat are shaded dry roots of wind-blown trees but it grows also on shaded tree bark at their bases in permanently humid places, e.g. at brook banks, and on overhanging surfaces of siliceous stones in moist forests. The lichen is probably overlooked because of its small size and specific ecology. The species is reported infrequently and mainly from the western part of the Czech Republic.
