Protothelenella corrosa (Körb.) H. Mayrhofer & Poelt

A crustose lichen with slimy, pale ochraceous thallus (due to algae of the genus Leptosira) and semi-immersed black perithecia. It is a pioneer species, poor competitor, found on shady rocks and boulders, which are humid for most of the time. It is more abundant in forest areas at higher elevations. In microclimatically suitable localities, it can also be found at lower elevations, e.g., in river valleys with inverse climate.
