Rinodina aspersa (Borrer) J.R. Laundon

A sorediate Rinodina species with greyish thallus and often also black prothallus. Apothecia are rare and if spores are formed, they have extremely thickened cell walls (Pachysporaria type). It grows on siliceous rocks and stones, volcanic rocks (such as andesite) and on slates near the ground surface. The species prefers sunny and warm places, for example, on rocky steppes, forest steppes and open screes. Its distribution in the Czech Republic is little known. It occurs in warmer areas and river valleys, it is absent from the mountains. Rinodina aspersa is abundant in the Křivoklát and Middle Vltava regions, singular records are known other sites. Its highest known locality is the Zábrdská skála in the valley of the Blanice river in the Pošumaví region.
