Xanthoria candelaria (L.) Th. Fr.

Minute yellow Xanthoria, thallus fruticose, lobes incised and branched with marginal blastidia/soredia. In contrast to similar X. polycarpa, apothecia are rare and it reproduces vegetatively. Locally abundant in nitrophilous communities on bark and twigs of deciduous trees. The species also grows on snag wood and anthropogenic substrates, such as stone walls, plasters etc. Occasionally also saxicolous on natural substrates. Distributed all over the Czech Republic.
