Although there are several historical records from our territory under this name (cf. Vězda & Liška 1999), the occurrence of this taxon in the Czech Republic has not been sufficiently documented (Printzen & Palice 1999). A comment on its controversial occurrence appears also in the Catalogue of Lichens of the Czech Republic (Vězda & Liška 1999). For this reason, it has not been evaluated in terms of threat categorisation (Liška et al. 2008, Liška & Palice 2010) and the question of its occurrence in the Czech Republic remains open. The nearest proven localities are in the Alps and Eastern Carpathians, where it inhabits moist beech forests.
