An inconspicuous, probably partly overlooked microlichen, usually growing on a slowly decaying wet wood in humid afforested areas. The species has been reported also saxicolous from the north-bohemian sandstone region. The Czech findings come from moist valleys, raised bogs and shady forests in border mountain ranges.
