A calciphilous species, typical especially for anthropogenic substrates (such as concrete and plaster). Besides, it occurs also on other types of calcareous rocks, frequently even as a pioneer species in human affected habitats. The lichen is widespread and relatively common both in Europe and in the Czech Republic.
