A calciphilous species, most often occurring on natural limestone rocks. It typically grows on exposed surfaces, but may be found also on overhanging rocks. Less often, it may be noticed on other types of calcareous substrates including anthropogenic ones. The lichen is locally common in karst areas at middle and low elevations; besides, it is absent in the country.
