A smaller Ramalina with characteristic terminal soralia. In grows on exposed spots on siliceous rock tops and solitary boulders, often at places enriched with bird excrements. It can also be found on similar anthropogenic substrates, such as old roofs. In central Europe, the species is quite rare, occurring from lowland to the alpine zone. In the Czech Republic, it is rare to scattered. It is more abundant for example on boulders in grasslands and pastures in granite areas.
