A dark grey to brown foliose cyanolichen, characterised by short coralloid marginal isidia. It is saxicolous on various basic siliceous rocks, such as spilites, basalts, serpentines or slates, often in basophilic bryophyte communities. It avoids both acidic siliceous and purely calcareous rocks. It is rare in the Czech Republic, known from rocks in the river valleys of Berounka, Dyje, Oslava, Rokytná, Jihlavka, Sázava and Vltava.
