A minute cyanolichen with dark filamentous thallus that resembles cyanobacteria filaments. It mainly grows on calcareous and basic silicates, on natural well-lit rock outcrops, in rainfall seepage tracks. It is rare in Europe, more abundant in mountain areas and northern part of the continent. In the Czech Republic, there are no recent records. Previously, in was found in the Krkonoše, Krušné hory and Beskydy Mts (Černohorský et al. 1956, Vězda 1967).
