Lecanora bicincta Ramond

A lichen of overhanging siliceous rocks above the upper tree line at high elevations. In Central Europe it is more common only in the Alps. In the Czech Republic, it is considered as a very rare species, recently reported only from the glacial cirque of Velká kotlina and from the locality Petrovy kameny in the Hrubý Jeseník Mts. This taxon requires further study, as it is possible that this is entirely a mountain morphotype of the common species L. rupicola. It is also necessary to verify whether there is a very similar and related species L. bicinctoidea in the Czech Republic.

taxonomic classification:

Ascomycota Lecanoromycetes Lecanorales Lecanoraceae Lecanora
