A rarely collected ephemeral species, known only from few localities in the Czech Republic. Usually found on small rather shaded acidic (gneiss, silicates with iron) and also basic (basic sandstone/marlstone) stones. Recorded on natural, seminatural and anthropogenic substrates at lower elevatoins (Prague), middle (Liberec, Sedlčany and Sokolov regions) and mountain (Krkonoše Mts) areas. In western Europe, commonly known only from anthropogenic substrates.
